Legendary referee Mike Chioda has admitted that his best days in wrestling are now behind him. At 59, the veteran revealed on Insight with Chris Van Vliet that he is “pretty much” done with full-time refereeing after a career that spanned more than three decades. Chioda was one of WWE’s longest-serving employees, overseeing countless iconic matches before his release in 2020. He later had a short stint in AEW until 2022 and made a notable one-off return for Ric Flair’s Last Match.
While he has effectively closed the chapter on his full-time career, Chioda clarified that he hasn’t completely ruled out stepping back into the ring for special occasions. He expressed openness to officiating a few matches if the right opportunity presents itself, though he made clear that his era of consistent refereeing at the top level has come to an end.
