Tony Khan announces one of the biggest matches in AEW history for All In 2025

Inside: Former WWE star makes shocking AEW return

TOP STORIES TODAY

Following Kazuchika Okada becoming All-Elite last year, many have been waiting for his long-awaited confrontation with his long-time rival, Kenny Omega. The two did not face off right away as Omega was dealing with his diverticulitis. Now that he is back, healthy, and is the International Champion, hints of their fifth bout against one another have been dropped around more often than ever.

At Fyter Fest, the two got into a brawl after Kenny's match. Tony Khan made an official announcement following the fracas, and has booked a match between them.

An ex-WWE star made a blockbuster return to AEW after over two years of absence on this week’s edition of Fyter Fest Dynamite. Tay Melo, one of the most popular female stars in the company, made her comeback. She signed with WWE in 2016 and performed on the NXT brand. However, she was released in 2020. Meanwhile, she made a name for herself in AEW throughout the years.

Despite being on great momentum, Tay Melo took a long hiatus from the squared circle as she was pregnant. She wrestled her last AEW match on Rampage back in January 2023. The 29-year-old star was cleared to wrestle in 2024 but wasn't brought back on TV.

In the opening match of the June 4 edition of AEW Dynamite: Fyter Fest, The Purveyor of Violence was set to square off with the equally unhinged Mark Briscoe. As soon as the bell rang, the two exchanged blows and delivered hard-hitting moves on each other. For Briscoe, it was only about inflicting pain, as he mentioned last week.

As the captivating bout approached its final moments, Jon Moxley embodied a bit of his former Shield cohort, Seth Rollins. He planted Briscoe's head into the mat in what looked like a Curb Stomp, which is well known as Rollins' finishing move in WWE.

FROM THE RUMOR MILL

The former AEW Women's World Champion received a good push from Tony Khan, but it seems like she was determined to sign with the global sports entertainment juggernaut. She hadn't been seen on AEW TV for almost three months. After being on a hiatus, the Woman from Hell finally arrived in NXT. As per the recent Fightful Select report, AEW was interested in renewing Mariah May's contract. It was also noted that she didn't leave the promotion on bad terms.

ANALYSIS CORNER

Swerve Strickland's character development in AEW has been quite intriguing. The Realest started as a babyface in the Jacksonville-based promotion before turning into one of the most despicable heels in the Tony Khan-led company.

Following a violent feud with Hangman Page, Strickland turned babyface again and captured the AEW World Title. The New Flavor had an entertaining run as the promotion's top champion before he lost the coveted title to Bryan Danielson at All In 2024.
