Gunther's opponent for SummerSlam 2025 was confirmed during the main event of WWE RAW, where a five-man Gauntlet match decided the challenger for the World Heavyweight Championship. Bron Breakker began the match and showcased incredible endurance by eliminating Penta, LA Knight, and Jey Uso in under an hour, positioning himself as the Iron Man of the bout.

However, CM Punk entered last and capitalized on Breakker's fatigue and an unexpected assist. Although Breakker had momentum, interference from Bronson Reed nearly cost Punk the match until Jey Uso returned to neutralize the threat. This paved the way for Punk to hit the GTS and score the win, officially setting up a highly anticipated dream match between CM Punk and Gunther at SummerSlam 2025.

On WWE RAW, Jackie Redmond asked Paul Heyman for an update on Seth Rollins' knee injury following his recent setback at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Heyman delivered a surprising response, stating that Rollins’ health is “not relevant” at the moment since he has until June 2026 to cash in his Money in the Bank contract.

Instead of addressing Rollins' condition directly, Heyman shifted focus to Bron Breakker, emphasizing his confidence in Breakker’s performance in the Gauntlet match to determine Gunther’s SummerSlam challenger. His dismissive attitude toward Rollins’ injury added tension to the storyline and raised questions about where Heyman’s loyalties truly lie.

Seth Rollins sparked concern over the weekend after appearing to injure his knee during his match against LA Knight at Saturday Night's Main Event. The match was reportedly cut short, with Knight securing a quick win following an audible. Rollins was seen limping and later left the arena with the help of medical staff. Triple H confirmed that the injury looked serious and said an MRI was scheduled.

However, a new report from Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio suggests that Rollins may not have been hurt during the match itself. Instead, WWE is said to be using the Main Event segment to cover for an injury he was already dealing with beforehand. Rollins was seen backstage with crutches and a knee brace, adding more intrigue around his current condition. Meltzer also added that the MITB cash-in is planned to happen out of nowhere.
