In an unusual move, SmackDown before Money in the Bank 2025 opened with Seth Rollins' faction ahead of his big MITB ladder match on Saturday. The crowd was quick to chant "CM Punk" and "OTC" at him, showing support for his two biggest rivals in WWE.

Addressing Roman Reigns and the "OTC" chants, Seth Rollins said that The Tribal Chief is on the island of irrelevancy, where he was put after WrestleMania 41.

WWE news has been grim this week, with Liv Morgan at the center of a stalker situation, while Roxanne Perez was also the target of another shocking plot. It seems that the surprising news doesn't end there since Jacob Fatu has been impersonated on Instagram for several months and was even able to get verified.

His uncle, Rikishi, sent out a warning ahead of SmackDown, making it clear to fans that the Instagram account, which many believed was Jacob's but spelled his name with a P, was actually a fake.

The Money in the Bank ladder match is one of WWE's biggest matches of the year. Every year, six men and six women compete to see who will climb a ladder and retrieve a briefcase, guaranteeing them a title match for any time in the future. This match has been responsible for creating several World Champions in the past and has proven to change the careers of many. This year, the women's match is stacked with participants like Rhea Ripley, Alexa Bliss, Roxanne Perez, Naomi, Giulia, and Stephanie Vaquer.

On SmackDown, Rhea Ripley, Alexa Bliss, and Stephanie Vaquer teamed up against Roxanne Perez, Naomi, and Giulia. During the match, Naomi abandoned her team, leaving Perez to get pinned in the ring. WWE has a track record where the person who has the upper hand on the go-home show usually loses at the PLE. Since the babyfaces won tonight, the company may have hinted that either Naomi, Roxanne, or Giulia will win the Money in the Bank ladder match.

FROM THE RUMOR MILL

According to a report from PWInsider, the promotion will be changing Mariah May's ring name so that they can trademark and own it moving forward. The 26-year-old is a former AEW Women's World Champion, and her last match in the promotion was a loss to Toni Storm at Revolution 2025. Ricky Saints used to be known as Ricky Starks in All Elite Wrestling but was given a new ring name after joining the promotion earlier this year.

The go-home edition of Friday Night SmackDown saw a singles bout featuring MITB participant LA Knight locking horns with Aleister Black in an instant classic. However, it ended in a DQ as Seth Rollins took Knight out with his signature Stomp. While Aleister tried to save Megastar, he was also taken out by Bron Breakker from behind.

Rollins and Co. implemented their perfect game plan and put a beating on LA Knight, leaving him motionless in the ring. In a shocking turn of events, WWE might announce that the Megastar's health was compromised on the blue brand, which leaves him unfit to contest at the men's ladder bout at the Money in the Bank 2025, leaving one surprise spot open.
