Former WWE and ECW star Sabu passes away aged 60

Inside: Huge betrayal in the works?

TOP STORIES TODAY

Sabu, real name Terry Brunk, showcased one of the most charismatic personalities in the history of the business, besides his one-of-a-kind in-ring work. He was involved with the industry for nearly 40 years and wrestled for renowned promotions like WWE, ECW, NJPW, and TNA, and made an incredible name for himself with his praiseworthy work. Today, many renowned wrestlers consider him their source of inspiration.

This news has shocked fans all over the globe as the legendary star wrestled his retirement match against Joey Janela just a few weeks ago on April 18, during the WWE WrestleMania 41 weekend. He also made an appearance at the Tri-State Wrestling Alliance reunion convention over the last weekend, an event held at the iconic 2300 Arena, which was famously known as the ECW Arena. No one would have thought it to be his last public appearance.

Scarlett was an active in-ring performer until 2019. However, since then, she has slowed down and has mostly served as an on-screen ally to her husband, Kross. During both of her stints with WWE, first from 2019-2021 and the current one, the 33-year-old has competed only a handful of times, mostly on Live Events.

Recently, Karrion Kross disclosed on X that Scarlett had received a standing ovation for her performance in a mixed tag team match last year, where they took on Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley. The former NXT Champion added that he was extremely proud of his wife and that he deeply cherished the moment.

Finn Balor has sent a message after betraying Dominik Mysterio at WWE Backlash. The star sent the messages on both X and Instagram. On Instagram, Balor collected his moments from Backlash, including where he took too long and got The Judgment Day thrown out of the ringside area.

That was not the only message he sent, as he also posted a picture of himself with the group at Backlash. Carlito and JD McDonagh can be seen celebrating with Dominik Mysterio after the latter's win at Backlash. Balor though, was not celebrating, instead, his eyes were on the championship, hinting at his real intentions.

FROM THE RUMOR MILL

Backlash was another WWE PLE with fewer matches than usual. Fightful Select reported that there was a much smaller crew backstage this weekend, and that produced a completely different vibe, especially from late last month when everyone was around for all of WrestleMania 41 week.

A backstage source joked that “no one was here” when talking about how few wrestlers were actually brought to St. Louis to work the show. This was because of the five-match card, but it seems there were even fewer talents than in previous premium live events with shorter lineups.

ANALYSIS CORNER

WWE Backlash 2025 certainly had its ups and downs. The mid-card title matches carried the premium live event, with Jacob Fatu and Lyra Valkyria's retentions standing out among the five match-card. The anticipated fight between Gunther and Pat McAfee did nothing to help The Ring General, as McAfee no-sold the choke after the finish. The Ring General is already coming off a poorly booked quick tapout loss to Jey Uso at WrestleMania. As the PLE immediately following The Showcase of The Immortals, Backlash needed to accomplish some things.

After an unfortunate incident during the event, WWE CCO Triple H might have to strip a top WWE champion of her title. It's Lyra Vakyria's Intercontinental Championship. The Irish star might have retained her title against 'The Man' Becky Lynch convincingly. However, Lyra possibly suffered a broken nose during the match, which might force her to relinquish her title on tonight's episode of RAW.
